The Truth about Bed Bugs:

BED BUGS ARE REAL

You have heard the cliché "Sleep Tight, Don't let the Bed Bugs Bite." Well they are real and do bite, in fact you are on the menu.

Bed Bugs are small, brownish insects, with flat, oval shaped bodies. Young Bed Bugs can be no bigger than a pinhead, or even undetectable by the naked eye. They feed on blood, animals and human. They tend to feed on bed occupants at night. They don't fly but move quickly over floors, walls, and ceilings. Females can lay up to 5 eggs a day and 500 during their lifetime.

Could Bed Bugs invade my business or Home?

The answer is yes. They are increasingly showing up in homes, apartments, hotels, cruise ships, dormitories, shelters, and vehicles throughout the country. They are moved by hitching rides in luggage, boxes, shoes, and other mobile objects. They are not tied to lack of cleanliness, but can be picked up and carried from anywhere they show up. They only feed at night so by the time you realize you have them the infestation is serious.

Typically, the first sign of an infestation is the appearance of small brownish or reddish dots on bedding, linens or mattresses. Also heavy infestations can result in an odor described as "buggy" or sweetish smelling. Bed Bug bites result in red, itchy welts with a lighter red ring around them. They feed on any exposed skin while you are sleeping such as hands, face, neck, shoulders, etc.

Bed bugs crawl into small cracks and crevices or voids in beds or furniture to hide and lay eggs during the day, and wait for their next blood meal.
