First Method: Advanced Monitored Defense System
The Advanced Termite Bait System consists of several new and unique components that work together to create a localized point of termite colonization and control. The foundation of the system is a next generation Advanced Termite Bait Station (TBS) the consists of in-ground housing secured with a Quick-Lock cap.
Inside the station are newly designed Advanced Termite Monitoring Base (TMB) and Advanced Termite Inspecton Cartridge (TIC) with Puri-Cell monitoring tablets.
Once termites are detected in the TMB and/or the TIC, the TIC is removed and an Advanced Termite Bait Cartridge (TBC) is installed. This begins the termite baiting process and the start of termite colony elimination.
Second Method: Termidor®Termiticide
Unlike any other termiticide, Termidor®termiticide/insecticide kills termites through ingestion or contact. Because Termidor®is non-repellent, termites unknowingly ingest it (and its active ingredient, fipronil) along with the wood fiber and other material they normally eat. And, since termites can't see, feel or smell Termidor®, they readily contact it as they go about their routine activities. So, even if termites are not feeding, Termidor®will kill them.
Typical Termidor® application rates contain 0.06% of the active ingredient fipronil, which is substantially lower than other termiticides. It is not mutagenic, not teratogenic and not considered a human carcinogen. It is also non-toxic to earthworms and soil microflora. And because it binds tightly to organic matter in soil, there is little potential for it to reach groundwater.
Answers To Gnawing Questions:
How much damage do termites cause?
Termites cause more damage than all fires, storms, tornadoes, and earthquakes combined. This can eventually lead to sagging floors, loose trim, cracked plaster, and more. At last count, termites caused more than $750 million in damage nationwide.
I live in the North. Aren't termites a southern thing?
Although termites are more of a problem in the southern states, they are present in every state except Alaska.
Can termites attack a home built on a slab?
Yes, all they need is a crack or slight gap around plumbing. Any opening greater than 1/64" is like an open door to them. Once inside a slab-type home, termites are especially difficult to detect.
I've never seen termites swarming in my home. Does that mean my home is termite free?
Not necessarily. It may mean only that you missed seeing the swarm. Swarming usually lasts less than an hour and only occurs once or twice a year. However, they may not swarm at all, or if they do, you may not see them.
How can I tell the difference between a termite and an ant with wings?
Winged termites are usually only 1/8" or so in length, have straight antennae, and no "waistline." Their wings are long and of equal length. Ants are often several times larger. They have elbowed antennae and three distinct body segments, with very slim waists. Their front wings are much longer than the back ones. Termites break off their wings shortly after swarming; ants do not.
