21 May Don’t let your weekend BITE!
Well, May is almost over and most of us have the pleasure of enjoying Monday the 25th off to observe Memorial Day. Just a reminder from your friends here at Ford’s Hometown Services: If you are enjoying your yard over the weekend, be sure to check yourself and children for ticks, and don’t forget your pets. This advise is doubled if you are taking the family camping. Stay away from tall grasses and un-mowed areas where ticks will be hiding. Keep a lint roller (the kind with the sticky tape) handy and roll it over everyone before entering into the home. Lyme disease is a real problem and can effect your health for the rest of your life. Also, mosquitoes are in the news lately because of EEE. Eastern Equine Encephalitis- EEE is a serious disease in people of all ages and can even cause death. Symptoms of EEE infection in humans include high fever, mental confusion, headache, stiff neck and lack of energy. In many cases, these symptoms progress rapidly to a dangerous swelling of the brain called encephalitis and may lead to coma and even death.
Maybe you decided to take a trip and are staying at a hotel. Well, you won’t find mosquitoes or ticks, right? Lets not forget about bed bugs. Check the room before you put one piece of luggage in it. Pull back the fitted sheet and scan the mattress for signs of these blood feeders.
Now that we have warned you what to avoid and watch out for, sit back and relax and enjoy the long weekend. Remember, if you are having a party or event, we spray yards for mosquitoes and ticks. Call today 1-800-649-9992. Don’t let your weekend bite!
