Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs are on the move this time of the year. The fluctuating temperatures let these bugs know it is time to find a spot to overwinter. You can find these pest on the sunny side of the home on warm fall days. They are harmless to your home but are considered a pest to apples, peaches, figs, mulberries, citrus fruits and persimmons and some bean plants. Prevention starts with blocking the cracks and crevices they use to get inside your home. One of the common areas they can use to gain entry is window unit air conditioner units that may have gaps around them allowing access. It is important to caulk cracks and be sure your door sweeps are tight-fitting. Once in the home they hunker down for the winter. Stink bugs do not bite, do not get into our food and do not breed indoors so they are considered a nuisance pest once inside. They will remain hidden in wall voids, attics and other areas in the home until spring when they can be found slowly moving around heading toward windows and lights. If they do not make it back outside they will die. It is not recommended to vacuum these pest due to the odor they omit when crushed so it is best to gather them in a paper towel and place them outside. An exterior spray around windows and doors will reduce the number of stink bugs and other pests that get into the home and now is the perfect time for prevention. Brandon our technician arrived promptly, was courteous, dealt with our mice issues promptly and patiently. His service was above and beyond expected in that he spent time listening to understand. He was especially kind to our tenent who had concerns also about a type of bug she showed him and squirrels. Brandon explained everything clearly and took extra time to treat us with the utmost respect. He is a stellar employee!! Thank You!
He also taught me so much about preventing critters by discouraging them and knowing the seasons and what to expect.
Also, whenever I have phoned the company I have been happy with the knowledgable people who answer my questions. In an age when so much is automated this business provides real answers and really capable people to meet your needs.
Thanks Again, Judith Doherty
