Vacation/Personal Time

Ford’s Hometown Services recognizes that time off is necessary for its benefit eligible employees to rest, relax, and pursue special interests. Eligible employees are awarded a week of vacation upon their one-year anniversary date. Additional weeks of vacation are awarded at length-of-time-worked intervals.

Sick Leave

All employees accrue 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked beginning from their 1st day of employment.​ They can use sick leave beginning on their 60th day of continuous service. Employees accrue up to 40 hours of sick leave per calendar year.

Holidays

The Company is closed on certain holidays, including New Year’s Day; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Thanksgiving Day; and Christmas.

Employees who have completed their first sixty (60) days of employment are eligible to receive pay for Company-observed holidays.  The Company reserves the right to vary or change the number of paid holidays it sets for each year.

Pest Control Technicians
Since 1941, Ford's Hometown Services, Inc. has been a privately-owned and family-operated Pest Control and Turf Management company. We are located in Worcester, MA and are known for being the home of the "Pest of the Month."

We offer a COMPETITIVE STARTING PAY at $16.00 per hour and a pay increase to $17.00 after 90 days of service! A Massachusetts Commercial Applicator (Core) License is required for this position. • A valid driver's license; with a satisfactory driving record and pass a CORI.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Be able and willing to work outdoors in all weather.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.; ability to walk long distances.
• Certain Saturdays and weekly overtime hours are required during the busy season.

Lawn Care Technicians

Inside Sales/Customer Service
The main purpose of this job is to sell divisional lawn care services to new customers as well as to our already established customer base. Position is expected to hold a valid driver’s license at all times, and to abide by all established safety protocols.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Selling all services within the division;
  • Handling sales and customer concerns along with providing an immediate scheduled appointment as necessary;
  • Salvaging a canceled account; or an account attempting to cancel must be considered a priority; immediate attention must be given to such account.  CURRENT CUSTOMERS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY POTENTIAL NEW CUSTOMER!!!
  • Perform an array of Inside sales and outside sales.
  • Working schedule of;
    • Off Season (Campaign Season) – October to February
      • Hours of 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., to include mandatory Saturday’s with one day off during the regular work week, approved by Director of Operations.  All overtime must be approved ahead of time by Director of Operations.
    • In Season (Peak Season) – March to September
      • Hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., to include mandatory Saturday’s with availability to work variable overtime during the peak season, approved by direct supervisor.    All overtime must be approved ahead of time by direct supervisor.
  • Responsible to answer phones and route calls to other departments as necessary;
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision;
  • Must complete Lawn Lore training within the first thirty (30) days of being employed, as applicable to the Lawn Care Division;
  • Must complete QualityPro within the first six (6) months of being employed, as applicable to the Pest Division;
  • Have extensive knowledge of all Ford’s Hometown Service programs and sales procedures;
  • Abide by all company policies, procedures, and practices
  • When fully trained, willingness to train a new hire.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):

The person who holds this position must also:

  • Abide by all established safety protocols;
  • Ability to be trained to other divisional sales as backup;
  • Ability to complete a company contract and other documents related to sales;
  • Ability to provide customers price quotes accurately and timely;
  • Learn and know all terms, completely;
  • Learn and understand fluently the property lawn measuring tool software, as applicable to the Lawn Care Division;
  • Attend any professional trades shows, networking or any other required company events or seminars;
  • Perform cancellation campaigns;
  • Perform reject campaigns;
  • Work together with all co-workers and management team;
  • Keep work area neat and organized;
  • Be presentable and dress successfully as the position represents the company;
  • Validate pricing within the IT Contracts;
  • Ability to recognize marketing and sales process short comings, including any foreseeable problems and provide information to supervisor or management team;
  • In the event of slow work, be willing to perform other projects related or not related to the division.
  • Other duties as assigned by the President or supervisor, including office tasks;

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience, knowledge, and skills:

  • Sales or customer service experience.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical
  • Must be able to work with minimum amount of supervision under stressful conditions.
  • Be detail-oriented and organized;
  • Be able to speak and read English; must be able to verbally communicate with Company customers and employees;
  • Have computer and basic office skill set;
  • Communicate with the upmost professionalism at all times (telephone and computer etiquette);
  • Be up to date with modern technology, allowing the ability to communicate to customers and the office.  Such communication may include but is not limited to: cellular phone(s), email, customer employee interaction software, social media, human resource information system and any other sales and marketing tool for Ford’s Hometown Services;

Language ability: Must be able to communicate effectively to all consumers, employees and collaterals.
Math Ability: Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions and have the ability to analyze financial and statistical data.
Computer Skills: Must be familiar with windows software applications and Microsoft Office software.
Other: Maintain a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
Supervisory: This position has no supervisory responsibilities or direct reports.
