As the warmer days arrive many insects will emerge from their hibernation and make themselves a pest. One such insect is the Boxelder Bug. These insects are found under tree bark, siding and other areas which provide shelter from the harsh winter. Boxelder Bugs are considered a nuisance pest because they do not breed indoors, bite or cause damage to the structure. They will be found in larger numbers in neighborhoods that have Boxelder Trees. Fall is the best time to place a preventative spray around cracks, windows and eaves to lessen the amount of insects entering in to overwinter. If these insects do not make it outside in the early spring they will die.
