The purpose of the Driver Rewards Program (DRP) is to promote and recognize outstanding safe driving behaviors among our fleet of company drivers. This program aims to enhance safety, reduce accidents, and encourage adherence to driving best practices by rewarding exemplary performance.
Eligibility
All company drivers who are assigned a vehicle, each equipped with a GPS transponder, are eligible to participate in the DRP. To qualify for the monthly reward, drivers must avoid any at-fault accidents, unexcused absences, or safety violations during the reporting week.
Safe Driving Reward Program
Each week, one driver will be awarded a $25 gift card. The gift card can be redeemed at one (1) of eighteen (18) different stores or restaurants, providing the recipient with a variety of choices for their reward.

Criteria for Safe Driving: Safe driving scores will be calculated based on the following criteria:
- Speeding: Maintaining speeds within posted limits and adjusting speed according to road conditions.
- Hard Braking: Minimization of instances where excessive force is applied to the vehicle’s brakes.
- Sudden Acceleration: Avoidance of rapid acceleration from a stop or low speed.
- Phone Usage: Adherence to company policy regarding the use of mobile phones while driving, primarily that phones are to be used hands-free and only when absolutely necessary.
- Hard Cornering: Avoidance of aggressive turning maneuvers that could lead to loss of vehicle control.

Monitoring and Data Collection: Vehicle performance data will be collected through GPS tracking and on-board diagnostics (OBD) systems installed in each company vehicle. This data will be reviewed and analyzed weekly to assess compliance with the safe driving criteria.

Scoring System: Each of the criteria listed in section 4 will be scored on a scale from 0 to 100, with 100 representing perfect adherence to safe driving practices. An “average” of the totals will be calculated for each driver, with a maximum possible score of 100 points. The driver with the highest average score at the end of each week will be declared the winner of the reward.

Determination of Winner: If more than one driver has the high score, the driver with the highest number of miles driven for the week will win the reward.

Award Distribution: Our Safety Manager, Maureen Hoffmann, will announce the winner during the first Monday of each week throughout the year. The winner will be sent a reward email and will have the choice of a number of different $25 gift cards to choose from.

Amendments to the Policy: This policy is subject to review and amendment at any time. All participants will be notified of any changes to the policy or program structure.

Program Evaluation: The effectiveness of the DRP will be evaluated annually. Feedback from participants will be solicited to improve the program and ensure that it continues to meet its goals of promoting safety and recognizing exceptional drivers.
This policy is effective as of May 2024. All participants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the policy details and strive for the highest standards of safe driving to qualify for the monthly rewards. -
