Stop Mosquitoes at the Source with Larvicide Treatment
If you have an aquatic habitat, natural vernal pool, pond, or free-standing water on your property, you know it can quickly become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Since mosquitoes transmit some of the most deadly diseases known to humans, including West Nile and Zika, the need for wide-spread mosquito management has never been more important. Treating breeding sites with larvicide is an effective and safe option that produces impressive results. The licensed and trained larvicide technicians at Ford’s Hometown Services are ready to help.
Why larvicides?
Larvicides are an essential part of mosquito control. When you target the breeding site of mosquitos you are able to focus your efforts on a relatively large number of larvae in a small area. Water is an essential part of the mosquito lifecycle, but different mosquitoes are attracted to different types of water, both natural and man-made. That means from puddles to stagnant water trapped in small containers to the shallow portions of larger aquatic habitats, you could have different breeding sites around your property.
Larvicides are products that help control mosquitoes in stagnant water and areas in and around aquatic habitats. They work by killing mosquito larvae and pupae before they can grow into biting adults. When used accordingly, larvicides do not harm people, pets, or the environment.
If you want to ensure your property and aquatic habitats are protected, call on the experts at Ford’s Hometown Services.
Ford’s Hometown Services’ Larvicide Application Process
Our process includes inspection and surveillance, source reductions, and chemical control through a larvicide application. Our licensed and trained technicians will:
- Assess your property for natural and man-made conditions that allow water to collect and create an environment where mosquitos like to breed.
- Select and apply the right larvicide for your unique situation. Our team will apply each larvicide block to every 20” around the edge of the breeding site, providing unbeatable protection for approximately 150 days. This controls the amount of breeding and lets you enjoy your property for the entire season.
- Identify areas of your property that may need to be changed to lessen the chances of creating future breeding sites and work with you on a plan for remediation. Our team can also discuss the benefits of combining larvicide applications with adulticides as part of a comprehensive mosquito control program to provide barrier treatment to areas where adult mosquitos are sheltering.
Our integrated strategy provides effective and continuous management of mosquitoes. This additional service provides peace of mind and can be added on to other mosquito control programs.
