Worcester Full Nutrient & pH (Potential Hydrogen) Soil Testing
Improve Soil Health for a Stronger Lawn Serving Central Massachusetts
Soil pH Testing & Limestone Applications
Proper soil pH is one of the most important parts of maintaining a healthy lawn. Balancing the soil pH will improve nutrient uptake, reduce disease, prevent thatch build-up, and improve weed control. When the soil is acidic, the nutrients that exist in the soil, as well as the nutrients and control products that we apply, will work less efficiently.
A lab-analyzed soil test will help identify any potential deficiencies and allow you to make informed decisions on soil management. We will pull samples of soil from multiple spots in your lawn and send them off to a lab. Our goal is to help achieve the optimum soil pH, micro and macro nutrients, and fertility levels in your soil, which in turn will stimulate the best growing conditions for your lawn.
The most effective way to neutralize the acid in your soil is to apply limestone.
Turfgrasses grow best at a neutral pH level that is between 6.2 and 7. A liming application can take 3 months to a year to break down in the soil. It is recommended to start your applications (if needed) as soon as possible.
If your lawn needs multiple applications based on the lab testing results, we will separate them over the season to avoid burning. After needed corrections are made, our lawn programs come with a maintenance lime to keep you in place from year to year. However, Ford's Hometown Services still recommends soil testing every 3 years since environmental factors, pH buffer, and soil type can alter levels differently with each lawn.
Supplemental Micronutrient Corrections
Based on soil test recommendations, we offer full supplemental micronutrient corrections. After needed corrections are made, our lawn programs come with a maintenance micronutrient package to keep you in place from year to year. However, Ford's Hometown Services still recommends soil testing every 3 years since environmental factors, pH buffer, and soil type can alter levels differently with each lawn.
Our pH and soil testing services are available as add-ons to our Premier and Organic Law Care Programs. If you benefit from our regular treatments, as our team about this additioonal service. Call (774) 418-4908 today.
